Cartier London Art Deco Aquamarine Ring, circa late 1930s
In the early 20th century Cartier London was under the direction of the youngest Cartier brother Jacques who served as the gemstone expert for all three branches, London, Paris and New York. He traveled extensively to source the finest stones for their workshops.
The Cartier London aesthetic was prized for its forward-looking, modern designs. This ring expresses the streamlined style of the late Deco era with a rectangular scissor-cut aquamarine in a platinum four-claw setting. The ring is accompanied by the original pencil and watercolor renderings on waxed paper, featuring an impressed Cartier stamp at the bottom right. The illustration shows four numbered mounting options including the one chosen.
