Paloma Picasso for Tiffany Fire Opal and 18k Gold Necklace Circa 1981
A striking early design by Paloma Picasso centered on a superb approximately 40 carat oval faceted vivid orange fire opal, bezel-set within a substantial rounded mount of 18k gold. The color of the fire opal is electric, almost neon, and seems lit from within. It is set inside a 0.25 inch wide gold bezel-setting with an open back.
The pendant is designed with two upper apertures through which a fine omega snake chain is threaded, creating a continuous, structured line at the neckline.
