René Sim Lacaze was an important and influential jewelry designer of the first half of the 20th century. In the 1930s he collaborated with Renée Puissant at Van Cleef & Arpels on the development of their mystery setting and iconic styles like the Ludo bracelet and Zipper necklace. In 1941 he moved to Mauboussin while simultaneously establishing his own design studio.
These 1940s-era tubogas pendant ear clips are classic examples of the Retro Style. The “gas pipe” tassels are decorated with diamond set bands and terminate in conical drops decorated with rubies.
